Memoir...

I totally forgot about my blogging days... Whoops! But guess what, I'M BAAACK! Hahaha.

Lately I've been thinking about writing a memoir. I'm not sure who I want my "audience" to be. Should I write it for a younger, college aged audience? Or should I write it for my future family to read? It's not like I'm gonna publish it or anything.. I want it to be fun to read, but I guess not too raunchy. I have a lot of details to think about still. But it's definitely in the works!

I found some helpful tips when writing a memoir:
  • Write first, edit later.
  • Write in the first person.
  • Tell the good and the bad.
  • Be gracious when writing about others.
  • Do your best to get it right.
  • Be yourself.
  • Write with your audience in mind.

My BFF K-Buss is in a sculpture class right now and she made some legit stuff today. I'm jealous. I love art projects. I want to paint soon!

Also some friends made vision boards the other day.. I keep thinking about what I want to put on mine when I finally make one. So many projects in the works :) Can't wait to dive in!

Jersey Shore in Corvallis?

On Monday, November 15th, Snooki and Sammi from the MTV reality show Jersey Shore were partying it up in Corvallis, OR. Home of Oregon State University.

OSU won an online contest between other universities across the country to bring the cast of Jersey Shore to their school. To be selected to attend the event all you had to do was vote on Facebook.

My friend Molly was chosen to attend the event put on by MTV and Comcast and she chose to bring me as her guest.

I was expecting to see Snooki and Sammi sitting at a table, with a long line of Oregon State students waiting to get a picture or autograph from the reality stars... boy, was I wrong! MTV and Comcast don't mess around! Before walking into the building my friend and I were given a bag with the Jersey Shore logo on it, there was a giant xfinity logo lit up on the outside wall of the fairgrounds and security everywhere. We walked into the room to find a boardwalk setting, like we were really at the Jersey Shore. There were games and food booths everywhere, as well as a stage with a huge Jersey Shore sign lit up at the end of the room. If you played a game, you automatically got something free after. I left the event with the 1st season of Jersey Shore on dvd, 2 Jersey Shore t-shirts (1 said "GTL", the other said "I love the Situation"), a Jersey Shore towel, and a DJ Pauly D bobble head. The set up was incredible! There was a DJ playing house music, easy to fist pump to, all night.

Around 7:30 Snooks and Sammi came out and greeted the crowd. They were a little awkward and didn't really know what to say. I felt like the atmosphere was more exciting than seeing the two people who were on the show...
Needless to say, I am very excited I was invited to go and it was a very memorable evening indeed! :)

Life As We Know It

Today I saw the movie Life As We Know It starring Katherine Heigl and Josh Duhamel.

Before seeing the movie, I had mixed feelings as to how much I would like the film. I figured it was just going to be a classic Katherine Heigl chick flick (which it was). BUT... I really liked it!
If I had to rate it I would give it 7.5 out of 10 stars.

The story line was complicated. The film is about 2 people, Holly and Eric, (who despise each other) who are the best friends of a married couple. The married couple tragically die in a car accident and leave their 2 friends (Heigl & Duhamel) custody of their daughter, Sophie. The 2 characters have to overcome their hatred for one another to make the situation work. There were expected, and unexpected, twists.

If you are in the mood for a chick flick, check this one out.

Addicted to Weeds

Showtime's hit TV show Weeds in now on its 6th season. If you have never seen it before it is about a widow named Nancy Botwin. Her husband died (in season 1) leaving her with her 2 sons, Shane and Cylus. Nancy decides to make a living as a drug dealer. This occupation of choice gets Nancy and her family into a variety of sticky situations.

Season 6 is about half way through at the moment, but here is a quick update... Nancy, her 2 sons, Andy (her brother in law) and Doug (a family friend) are on the run after Shane, Nancy's youngest son, murdered a woman with a croquet mallet. This season has been very different compared to the past. Nancy is acting more reckless than ever, and I'm not sure she knows how deep she is in this mess of a situation. The FBI is looking for her and her family, as well as her husband (a Mexican politician) and his goons. If she gets caught there is no telling what is going to happen. But I will say that no matter what kind of sh*t Nancy gets herself into, she is always able to get herself out. She is one lucky lady.

Although this season is different, I like it. Every episode leaves you with a cliff hanger. This week she is returning to her childhood home and is allegedly going to attempt one final drug deal before leaving the country with her family... We'll see...

18 Days! #FreeWeezy

Dwayne Carter, aka Lil Wayne, is expected to be released from jail on November 4th. Wayne pleaded guilty to a loaded gun possession charge in March of this year. He is currently serving time in Rikers Island jail and will be a free man again in 18 days.

Anyone who knows me knows how big of a Weezy fan I am. My best friend Kaitlin was the person who really introduced me to his music. She went to his concert in Eugene, OR in 2007, but never actually saw him perform. He had been arrested in Idaho for drug possession before arriving in Oregon. Although she didn't see him perform, she still bought me a t-shirt from the concert :)

Kaitlin and I were both able to see Lil Wayne perform live in Portland last year. It was seriously one of the best concerts I have ever been to! He is truly a great performer and has such charisma on stage. Anyone who has seen him perform live knows how much he appreciates his fans.

Lil Wayne released his newest album "I Am Not A Human Being" on September 27th of this year (the day of his 28th birthday). He had recorded the album prior to serving time. His single "Right Above It" featuring Drake reached #1 on iTunes, which is pretty impressive considering the fact that he was unable to promote the album at all.

I am so excited for Weezy F. Baby to be released. Young Money money fans everywhere will be celebrating his return to rap music. #FreeWeezy

Dexter Morgan: Father or Killer?

The 5th season premier of Dexter brought us back to the horrible scene we last saw as season 4 was coming to a close. Dexter's beautiful wife, Rita, was murdered by the man he had been hunting all season long. This season he must find a way to be a father to the three children his wife left behind, as well as make time for his favorite past time, killing.

Although the season premier was depressing, I feel like it was the perfect, and only, way to start off the season. I know I was shocked and upset when I saw Rita had been murdered, and although Dexter doesn't think he has the emotional capacity of "normal" people, he was obviously upset when he walked in on a scene of his dead wife. It took an hour worth of television for him to accept his anger and sadness, and to act on these feelings... although it led him to kill a random stranger, and ultimately breaking the kill code that his foster father Harry had taught him to follow.

This week was the 3rd episode to season 5, and I thought it was the best episode yet of the new season. He has a new "project" which seems creepy and promising. A man who works for the county sanitation company and murders women, then puts them into barrels and throws them into a swamp... like I said, creepy.
Although Dexter's "dark passenger's" needs are being met, his family is ripping apart at the seams. Astor and Cody, Rita's children from her former marriage are going to live with their grandparents. Although Cody wants to stay with Dexter, Astor wants nothing to do with him and blames Dexter for her mother's death. I have a feeling this isn't the last we'll be seeing these two, but this will give Dexter a lot more free time, and we all know what that means :)

That's all for now.. Stay tuned for more updates from your fave shows!
